Week of 6/23/14
- Please return the math student reference book if you haven't already done so. Thank you.
1.Math- Please use the rest of the home links in the math homework book over the summer to continue to practice concepts learned in first grade to keep skills sharp. I will be sending home the Math Journal 2 soon. You will see that we have completed units 7, 8, 9, and 10 so all of the remaining home links are all review. Practicing this math throughout the summer will help your child transition into second grade math smoothly. You do not have to send in any more completed home links. They can stay in your book for reference. The answers are in the parent letters for each unit.
Some games you could continue to play over the summer months:
Addition top it
Multiplication top it
Domino Top it
Penny Nickel Dime Quarter Exchange
Roll Dice to make number sentences: Use them for addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
2.Reading- Keep reading every night throughout the summer. It is essential for each child to read in order to stay at his/her level. Students who don't practice reading throughout the summer tend to move down levels when retested in September. Most importantly have your child discuss what they have read, especially the authorís message, problem, solution, main idea.
