            THE PRAIRIE HABITAT GARDEN:
In the heart of our school grounds stands the Prairie Habitat Garden.  Construction began in the spring of 2010, and it should be fully completed by winter of 2010.  This garden simulates a midwestern tall grass prairie habitat and is composed of an eclectic planting of some 50 species of perennial plants and grasses.  This garden is meant to attract a diversity of insect and animal species that will provide students a real-world opportunity to observe ecological interactions.  It especially connects to Grades K, 1, and 2 science curricula involving habitats, insects, and plants. Adjacent is a naturalistic amphitheater composed of stump seats organized in a semicircle providing a pleasant place for classes to learn outside.
